“We had a great weekend here, the location of the house was beautiful. Kitchen is in need of a facelift. Spijtig that we always had to go outside in the garage for the freezer. Huisje also shows several other defects. A trip to the abbey of Maredsous is definitely worth it. We have been renting houses in the Ardennes for at least 15 years and this house is certainly not worth 4.5/5 to us (except for the location).”

“We had booked this house in the Belgian Ardennes quite randomly. Obviously read some reviews. They were no exaggeration.We really had a wonderful holiday in and around this house. The house had more to it than was described! In one of the warm weeks of summer 2020, we enjoyed the house, the environment and the many possibilities and would like to come back again.It already started with the arrival, we were met by the very friendly (only French speaking) owner who showed us around and explained. What immediately stood out was the enormous space in the house and the cleanliness. We have almost always been impressed with how clean the holiday homes were, but this one surpassed all, neat and immaculate. The location is beautiful. Onhaye / Falaën is located in the western foothills of the Ardennes, but against our expectations, the area is beautifully rugged with huge rock massifs. The location at the entrance to the castle ruins really gives it an atmosphere. The ruin is open during the day and quite a few hikers and visitors passed by. Because the outside terrace is screened off in a nice way, it is certainly not bothersome and gives something nice. Because the ruin is closed "at night, the adjacent building is the ticket office and museum and the other house is being renovated," you have complete freedom and tranquility in the evening. Yet you really don't feel lonely or deserted: the beautiful country house is located approx. 100m deeper in the valley; the houses 300m earlier at the beginning of the entrance building and the noise of traffic (not bothersome) on the hairpin bends road still give a safe feeling.Atmosphere also give the crickets and the beautiful sound of the fast-flowing river La Molignée, which is 30m from the house. Due to the heat we walked in it every day over the boulders, or went under (no real swimming is possible) or by car 1 kilometer further to one of the water”

“The arrival went smoothly. Some minor defects as described below. Furthermore, very quiet area (probably busier during opening days before the ruin) and lots of nature. Accessibility of nearby towns and villages is easy and relatively short travel times.”

“Upon receipt we were literally warmly received. After all, it was fired to 25 degrees Celsius by two furiously-burning fires that reminded a lot of a gourmet stilt fire on a missed Christmas Eve. The best man who received us did not speak a word of Dutch, but with friendly yes nods and laughter most things turned out to be fine. The accommodation was pretty clean. The three bedrooms that were present are great for sleeping. Keep in mind that it is noisy. You can hear from each bedroom if someone in another bedroom has an existential crisis (or turns around). The showers and taps in the house were probably used as a sprinkler system in the previous life. On that, the kitchen is very complete. The coffee maker needs some extra attention; only when you start talking to it will the coffee run. We have therefore called her Tessa; within a week she was a real part of the family. The environment was nice. Just don't go in the winter; the ruin at the house is then not accessible, and the forest walk / hill walk has more to do with mud hopping than being outside. There is a donkey near the house, but if you were to rely purely on the sound that that animal knows how to produce, you would rather expect it to be related to a primordial cow washed out of the balls.”

“Wonderfully secluded, but easily accessible. Very green environment. The cottage was well cared for everything was in abundance (crockery, cooking equipment, bbq, etc). There was a tour in the beginning by the key keeper and the showers need some instruction (in French).”

“We have been received nicely. The house is beautiful. It is beautifully situated at the foot of a ruin that is only open on weekends. It is wonderfully large. Clean. The environment is super. There is so much to do. Rail bike (cycling on an old railroad track), hiking, beautiful places such as Dinant are worth a visit and very cool kayaking on the Lesse. This house and its surroundings are really worth a visit!”

“We have been in Falaën for a week. We were received by a very friendly host. What a great house and what a beautiful setting! The house was large and clean. The 2 fireplaces provide a lot of cosiness and warmth. In addition, there is a central heating system (blowing system), which blows the house nice and warm in no time. So you do not have to continuously heat the fireplace for heat. A visit to the ruin is definitely recommended! You can also make beautiful hiking and mountain bike tours in the immediate vicinity. We had a delicious dinner at the pizzeria around the corner (possibility of digital reservation). We can definitely recommend a stay in this house!”
